Spring Daisies

The new challenge at Stamping with the Dragon begins today and it's a fun one:

THEME: MAY DAY,  FLOWERS

SPONSOR: STAMPING DRAGON DESIGN

WEBSITE: http://dragonslairdesigns.com/shop/

PRIZE: 4 DIGI IMAGES WINNERS CHOICE, 2ND PRIZE GUEST DESIGN TEAM SPOT

I chose the Spring Flowers and printed the image twice in different sizes.  Then I colored everything with my Copic markers and fussy cut them out.  The vase is from a die cut from my stash that I cut part of it off to make it a bit smaller.  The sentiment is a rubber stamp that I stamped on a Memory Box Pastry Labels die (they are brand new on the market) and tied with Baker's Twine

You have until May 12 to choose your May Day or Flowers themed project and upload them to the Stamping with the Dragon Challenge Blog.  You'll also definitely want to check out all the other great creations by our design team as well.

Copics used: Y15,Y35, Y38, RV66, RV69, RV99

Butterfly Flourish

The challenge this week at AiFactory is Anything Goes.  I've used one of the butterflies from the Flourish Clusters set found at the store.  As you can tell, I enlarged the image quite a bit to make it the dominant (only) thing you see.  I colored the butterfly with my Copic markers and added a bit of black Spica glitter pen to certain areas.  I also pop dotted the wings for more dimension.

Here is a close up view.

The card base was cut with Spellbinder's Grand Scallop Circles and a Lacey Circle die was used to cut the patterned paper behind the butterfly.  I also added Enamel Accents for a little bit of subtle bling.

You have one week to upload your creation to our challenge blog.  Be sure to visit all the other team members to see what they've come up with too.

Copics Used: Y17, YR68, YR09, R27
Other ingredients: Spellbinder's Grand Scallop Circle (#2), Lacey Circle (#5); Enamel Accents; Black Spica pen

C BizKit's Merry Go Round

It's the last Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for the May New Release Blog Hop for Dude Time Doodles.  We've got lots of fun things for you this month, so be sure to visit everyone and leave a comment.  One of the Dudettes will be the Mystery Hostess and one of her commenter's will be the lucky winner.

Step right up and join C BizKit's Merry Go Round.  All the jockeys are trying to get in the lead - unfortunately they haven't figured out yet that they are just going in circles.  For this project, I started out by printing the image multiple times and coloring each one with my Copic markers (each one is completely different - even the skin tones) and then fussy cutting them out.  Next, I adhered them to skewers that I airbrushed with my Copics and adhered the skewers to my base (a cake board covered with Graphic 45 paper).  The ceiling of the Merry Go Round was created using my Nested Ornament dies from Spellbinders.

Here's a different shot of the Merry Go Round (not the easiest thing for me to photograph) and the top. I used all G-45 papers (Le Cirque) for this labor of love.  Next time, I'll use larger diameter skewers or straws as these thin ones took a while to become stable.

Here are some close-ups of the jockeys wearing their favorite winning colors.

After I cut out each of the images, I applied Glossy Accents to each horse.  Everyone knows that Merry Go Round horses are all shiny looking and C BizKit is no exception.  It's also a bit hard to tell, but each horse and rider are staggered, so they aren't at the same height.

The Blog Hop doesn't have a starting or ending point; so no matter where you hop, you're at the right place.  Just keep on hopping until you've gone full circle and hopped to each of us.  Don't forget to leave each of us some love along the way.  All New Releases will be available in the STORE at 10am EST.

You should have arrived here at Anne-Made directly from Dude Time Doodles blog.  From here, you can hop on over to Miss Cleota's and see what she has in store for you (you'll love it!).  Here's the list of Dudette's in case you get so dazzled by all our artwork and you loose your place.

Liebster Blog Award

I've been a bit remiss in thanking two friends who have bestowed this blog award to me - so now I'm making amends.

Thank you Dawn and Alyna.  I really appreciate it!!  It's a wonderful feeling to know that others enjoy what I create too.

Now to pay it forward.  The rules say you should thank the person who gave it to you and then pass it on to five more people/blogs you like.

My list (in no particular order):
 - Mandy (she lives in Birmingham too - England though, not Alabama)
 - Colette (great sense of humor and skills to boot!)
 - Kevin (yes, there are guys out there who have as much talent as we girls do :-) )
 - Allie (great coloring skills)
 - Suzy (just discovered her amazing talent)

There are so many other blogs I enjoy visiting as well, but I'll save those for another time.  Thanks again Dawn and Alyna.

Desiree

Here's a quick little card I put together using two different Bugaboo digital images: Desiree and a Wooden Bench.  Everything is colored with Copics.  Looks like she's waiting for something.  Wonder what it could be....maybe the ice cream truck!

Happy Monday everyone.

Yoo Hoo, Easter Chick

Yoo Hoo is One Cute Easter Chick.  I've combined a couple different digital images (Yoo Hoo's Easter Egg and Easter Tickets) from Stamping Dragon Designs to create this fun Easter card.  Yoo Hoo has already broken into his colored chocolate Easter Egg and started gobbling it up.  He couldn't wait any longer!

The images are colored with Copic markers and a little bit of glitter pen.  I cut Yoo Hoo out using Labels Ten (#5,6) from Spellbinders and fussy cut out the ticket.  The background was embossed with a Sizzix Texture Plate before adhering to the back panel.  I cut the front darker pink cardstock shorter and placed the matted image over the side so you could see a portion of the inside of the card.  I added Viva Decor Pearl Pen pearls along the edge of the inside as well.

You don't want to miss the Stamping Dragon Designs challenge blog going on now.  Head on over and submit your link.  Be sure to visit all the other members of the team to see what they've created for you this week too.

Baby Bug

This week's challenge at AiFactory is Flowers in Bloom and should include flowers.  I've incorporated two different pieces of the clip art set called Lady Bug Baby.  I printed the background flower on both plain paper and patterned paper so I could layer them and the baby bug multiple times so I could pop dot the baby for more dimension.

The papers are from Basic Grey and the flower ribbon is from my stash.  The sentiment is something my hubby came up with (maybe it's an old Vermonter expression) and is cut with Spellbinders Tag Trio 2 die.

Head on over to the Challenge Blog to see what all the other team members have come up with this week too and don't forget, you have one week to upload your Flowers in Bloom project.

Dude - Inspiration Challenge

It's the third Wednesday of the month - and that means it's time for the Dude Time Doodles Inspiration Challenge.  Here's the inspiration board:

Those deep purples and blue in the photo on the left just jumped out at me.  I used the sponged background technique to try and capture those same dark hues for the backdrop of Downtown Delmar Disco.    Spellbinders' Deckled Mega Rectangles (#4, #5) were used to cut out the backdrop and the additional layer behind Delmar.  The sentiment is by Create with TLC.

Here are the guidelines for the Inspiration Challenge:

1. Use inspiration board and creations from the Dudettes to get your mojo moving.
2. You are not required to use BDD images although it would make us really, really happy and giggle a lot if you did!
3. MUST be a masculine themed card; you can use humor, innuendo, be a little naughty, sarcastic, but it has got to be for a DUDE!
4. Be sure to use the InLinkz at DTD to submit your creation.

You have one week to upload your project using InLinkz; the winners will be announced on the
Dude Time Doodles Challenge Blog.

You don't want to miss what the other Dudettes have come up with to inspire you either (see tabs above for blog addresses).  If you like what you see, let us know - that always makes our day!

Featured Artist

I'm so excited to let you know that I've been asked to be a Featured Artist at Scrapbook News and Review (SNR)  magazine.  The topic I chose was comparing rubber stamps vs. digital stamps using the Emboss Resist technique on different types of papers and different mediums (that's a mouth-full!).  I also explain how to do the Emboss Resist technique using both a rubber stamp and a digital image.  It takes a few extra steps to do this technique with a digital image, but it can be done, using any of the three types of paper (plain cardstock, glossy cardstock, vellum).  You can read the full article/tutorial HERE.  I had a pre-conceived notion as to what I expected the results to be; but I was surprised.

I completed two cards from all my experimentation.  For the first card, the completed panel is a combination of plain cardstock and Smooch Spritz.  The popped up flower is a combination of vellum paper and alcohol inks.  I added some pearls for the center of the flower and a bit of ribbon where I stamped my sentiment.  Both the flower images and the sentiment are from Outlines Rubber Stamps.

The second card is comprised of a digital image by KLM Designs (which is no longer in business).  If you read my blog fairly regularly, you know how much I love to fussy cut out my images and add pop dots for added dimension.  This card is no exception. I combined four of the experimental panels to complete this card.  The daffodil on the left is comprised of vellum/alcohol inks for the body and glossy cardstock/Smooch Spritz for the head.  The flower on the right is a combination of glossy cardstock/alcohol inks for the body and plain cardstock/alcohol inks for the head.

Here's a close up where you can see that I pop dotted the top portion of the daffodil head for more dimension.  If you have any questions about this technique or the tutorial, please let me know and I'll try my best to answer them.

Crocus - Spring has Sprung

Spring has definitely sprung around these parts.  Today I made a CAS (clean and simple) card for you.  This is a digital image from Wax Fruit Co. and, as usual, is colored with Copic markers.  For those purest out there, I know crocus flowers are supposed to be shades of purple; so I guess I created my own varietal.

The challenge I posted at Ch{all}enge Masters as the Stamping Diva today is to use a stamp (rubber or digital) that has a flower on it.  Check out all the other great challenges going on over there as well.

Enjoy your day - hope the sun is shining where you are too.

Golf anyone?

Guess what the Stamping with Dragon theme is for this challenge.  It's SPORTS, any kind of sports and our sponsor is Kenny K.  We had several sports related images to choose from and I chose the Golfer.   The PRIZE: is 3 digis for 1st, 2 digis for 2nd and 1 digi for 3rd. and don't forget a prize to be the guest design Team member. So, this challenge will have 4 winners!!!  Yea!!  You will have two weeks to link up your sports related project.
Copics were used to color in the image and the Fresh Cut Grass die by My Favorite Things was used to create the "rough".  I pop dotted the top of my golfer guy for more dimension and left his feet firmly planted on terra firma.   The sentiment was made on my computer and printed on the Bazzill cardstock.  The cloud patterned paper is from my stash.

Head on over to the Stamping with the Dragon challenge blog to see what the rest of our team projects  (or check the tab above for SDD DT blog addresses).

Pretty in Pink

Spring has definitely arrived here and this sweet image and sentiment by Create with TLC are perfect for the season. This vintage image is colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out.  I also added glass clear Micro Marbles to the yellow flower heads and to the water droplets coming out of the watering can.  These beads are so tiny and reflect the colors you've chosen.  Glossy Accents was used to highlight the rest of the flower centers and a touch of a Spica Glitter pen was added here and there.  The quilled rose was created from glossy paper and alcohol inks.

Here's a close up of the watering can and "water".  These micro beads are such a cool effect.

This card was made specifically for the iCopic DT call, which ends April 16.  Good luck to all that enter.

BYOJ (Bring Your Own Jug)

Welcome to the Hillbilly Hoedown staring none other than our very own Dude Time Doodles Dude, and local celebrity, Jethro Jug!  Head on over and grab Jethro as a freebie and submit your creation for a chance to be a Guest Design Team member at Dude Time Doodles.

Copic markers were used to give a bit of color to Jethro.  He spends many a night under the Moonshine! (How do you think he got so many empty jugs to make his sweet music with?)  I also incorporated the Sizzix Frame and Postage die and Star die.  After all, Jethro IS the biggest star of the Hillbilly Hoedown!  To make the stars glimmer, I sprayed the cardstock with Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels and Sheer Glimmer Spritz by Tsukineko.

The hoedown is taking place over at the Dude Time Doodles Challenge Blog.  Head on over, pick up Jethro, but be sure to have him back home by April 19.  While your visiting the hoedown, be sure to see what the other Dudettes have created for your viewing pleasure (and inspiration).

Floral Fence

Floral Fence is one of the wonderful images found at the Stamping with the Dragon store.  I colored everything with Copic markers and used a Souffle pen for the flower centers.  This is a very versatile design that can be used for many different types of occasions.

The current challenge is still going on, so head on over to the challenge blog to submit your project.  While you're there, check out what the design team has in store for you today.

I'm also entering this Spring time card in the Pattie's Creations challenge.  Their theme is Easter or Spring time.

Egg-ceptional Family Portrait

This is a new release called Merry Little Egg Heads from AiFactory and it's just in time for Easter, since that's the theme for this week's challenge.  Be sure to check out the Challenge Blog to see what each member of the design team has created for your viewing pleasure and to link up your creations for our viewing pleasure (plus to win prizes).

I have the privilegde of debuting the annual Egg Family portrait, and this year it's Egg-ceptional since they have a new addition to the family (he's the little tyke in the center).  He joins his twin brother and sister (the oldest), another sister, and a brother.  Mom and Dad are egg-tremely happy about their new little egg.

The portrait was hand colored this year (with Copic markers) and framed in their favorite color, yellow, using the Scalloped Edge Frame from Spellbinders.  This egg-traordinary (extraordinary) work of art (as far as the Egg family is concerned) is hung on the wall (patterned paper by DVWV) with ric rac and a brad for the nail.

Copics used: Y00, Y02, RV04, RV09    YR16, YR18, Y11, Y02    R21, R22, Y000, Y11    V12, V15, Y11,Y02     B02, B04, Y02, Y11    YG93, YG97, Y000, Y00    C00, C1, B0000, B000
Other ingredients: patterned paper: DCWV, Spellbinder's Scalloped Egde Frame, ric rac, brad, glitter pen

Tiny Tequila celebrates...

....National Tomato Month (well, just Florida; everyone else celebrates in October).  Tiny Tequila is all decked out in his favorite outfit to commemorate this special occasion.  His little town goes all out when it comes to celebrating National tomato Month and he looks forward to it every year; this is the only time his wife will let him wear these colors together.

He's colored with Copic markers on Cryogen paper (that's why Tiny's all sparkly).  I printed him out twice and colored one of the images black so I could silhouette him.  The sentiment is made with a Dymo Caption Maker.  In order to create my border, I cut it with the Plaque & Postage die from the Tim Holtz Alterations line by Sizzix.

Not only is Tiny celebrating National Tomato Month, he's also celebrating the Dude Time Doodles Sketch Challenge that begins today!   Here are the rules: 1. You have one week to complete your project and upload it to the Dude Time Doodles Challenge Blog.  2. You are not required to use Bonibleaux Designs Digis although it would make us really, really happy and giggle a lot if you did!  3. MUST be a masculine themed card.  You can use humor, innuendo, be a little naughty, sarcastic, or whatever but it has got to be for a DUDE4. Be sure to use the InLinkz button at  Dude Time Doodles challenge blog to submit your creation.

Here's the sketch.  You can flip it, twist it, or leave as is.

Check out what the other Dudettes have made for you as well this week (see tab above for blog addresses) and be sure to visit out guest designer this month, Ike.

Extra Special Blog Hop

Today the Dudettes are celebrating our Fearless Leader's birthday.  So, we decided to surprise Boni with an extra special blog hop.  Hopefully you hopped over from Ginny.  Here's the list of Dudette's helping Boni celebrate, so be sure to visit each one and see what they have in store for Boni too (the hop goes live at 6am EST):

I wanted to make a birthday card having her celebrate in style and all dressed up for this special occasion.  This bombshell babe is a rubber stamp from Bombshell Stamps and the dress and sentiment are one of several digital image add-ons for the rubber stamp image.  Both images are on Cryogen paper, which gives it a shimmery look in person. The solid cardstock is by Core'dinations and I embossed the black strip with the Sizzix Dot Matrix folder and the red is cut with Spellbinder's Labels One (#6) die and emboseed with the Diamond & Stars Impressibility from Spellbinders.  The patterned paper is by Doodlebugs.  The shaped card (also used the red Core'dinations) was cut using the Labels One Grand Nestabilities (#3).  I added some Smooch Spritz for a bit of glitz, a row of pearls, and some flowers (to coordinate with the flower in her hair).  The inside of the card is embossed with "happy birthday" and is also sprayed with Smooch Spritz.

Now it's time for you to hop on over to Tammy.

Hope you have the best day ever, Boni.
HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I'm also entering this card in the One Stop Craft challenge this week where the theme is spots and dots.  Plus Dude Time Doodles is the sponsor.
